I started drawing and painting at school but never really considered
studying art at university. I studied French and Sociology (at Reading
University) and got a French Diploma in Law (in Toulouse), although I
never gave up painting. Since graduating, I mainly worked part-time so
as to devote time to creative projects, such as making hand made wooden
spectacle frames (I hide the photos), writing stories, acting and, of
course, painting, having a lot of fun doing it all. Over time, painting
became more and more significant, and after living in Berlin for several
years I returned to my hometown, Folkestone, and began painting scenes
from the local area.
By 2005 the interest in my work was such that it made sense to quit my
part-time job as a lecturer at Reading University, and open a gallery in
Folkestone.
